Terry Collins on Delirious Insomniac May 18th, Arvo doing a DJ set at Burlington

On The Evening of MAY 17th, Terry Collins of WLUW's Echo Beach and Phonograph Phanatic and will be guest host on The Delirious Insomniac Freeform Radio Show/Delirious Sunrise. Anyone who follows that Phonograph Phanatic link will see why I am particularly excited to see what this man does with 6 hours of freeform time.

I will be doing a DJ set at Burlington, 3425 W Fullerton Avenue, along with a man who will be playing records he found while in Haiti for the relief effort. More to be released as necessary.

My tape is now available

MP3 Samples:

(crop of insert)\

The material on "333" is made up of free association compositions that incorporate rhythmic noise, pseudo-classical mannerisms, watery electronic sounds, and spastic, fluttering drum machines with wild time-signature juxtapositions. First partially written in 2003, in a 2nd floor closet, squatting in a rat-infested house that only had power in the flooded basement, Clayton Counts mastered the final product in a stretch of about 5 8 hour long days, while we meticulously went over every detail. The 60 minutes of material amalgamates a series of cohesive works made specifically for live performance, in manic, alcohol soaked, dark and solitary sittings of 15-25 hours, then obsessively expanded/refined until 2009. It is composed entirely with a Yamaha RM1x sequencer, incorporating various carefully crafted haywire anamolies that were featured in Dead Tech/Circuit Bending type of art gallery events, and much experience from performing with live bands or working with a wide variety of artists.

The cassette is limited to an edition of 99, across 3 different colored cassettes (solid orange, solid purple, black), with 3 different label designs, a 3 panel, two sided, full color insert, and a color transparency.

People that can get past their potential assumptions about the name won't likely be disappointed. The transparencies cost a lot but it has to be that way. Here is a scan of the transparencies that will go over the inserts (please pardon my dirty scanner bed, I was scanning piles of nails the other day):

I have also just found 10 more copies of the MF & Company C93 that I put with my box of empty norelcos for some reason. $6 ppd, $3 w/ the purchase of the "333" CS.

On Delirious Insomniac April 20: Dave Phillips Guest Podcast

Active since 1984, Swiss artist Dave Phillips has not only worked along the lines of metal, punk, hardcore, and classical by way of many separate projects, but he's also produced extensive solo compositions dealing with voice, body sounds, musique concrète, and field recordings. In the 90s, he was a participant in "Psychic Rally", a radio show in Zurich, and between 1999 and 2002, he had a radio show called Zeitgenossen on K/Aarau. His extensive biography inlcudes touring much of the world (either solo, as a member of the bands fear of god, OHNE (with Tom Smith), Schimpfluch Gruppe, and many others, or as a soundperson) working at independent record labels for as long as 6 years, and doing genre defiant turntablism under the name "eva d.". The primitive, yet well refined work of Dave Phillips often heightens the senses and draws attention to, therefore appreciation of, subtle details, while also at times provoking the listener to an introspective, perhaps almost animalistic state. Initiated before the incarnation of Delirious Sunrise, dp will share a deeply engaging hour of music from his personal library on the Delirious Insomniac Freeform Radio Show, April 20th at Midnight Central time, streaming in real time from WLUW, and archived at www.posterityplaylists.blogspot.com .

Delirious Sunrise in April

"Delirious Sunrise" is a weekly radio program for the early hours of the morning, between 4 and 6 AM CST on wluw.org. An extension of the Delirious Insomniac Freeform Radio Show, and curated by Arvo Fingers, DS sets out to showcase people with a pronounced enthusiasm and outstanding perspective on things. The program will feature syndications from around the world for 2 hours each week. Rebroadcasts of this show are on the horizon.

April 6th:

Larry Grogan from the enormous and long standing Funky 16 Corners blog will be playing dusty soul 45s to aid you en route upon arrival or departure of the blues.

April 13th:

Zeid from Radio23 will be operating out of a computer-equipped utility van, he describes his work as such:

This has been going on for over a year and episodes have ranged in
format and demeanor from your standard.. perhaps not tame, but
relatively stable and coherent song by song DJ playlisting, to a
rather mind-numbing example of complete and utter structural breakdown within your mash-up/mixing technique; from simply odd homemade jingles
and occasional sci-fi radio dramas, to live, in-van noise performance
an occasional scant cast of quite equally maniacal comrades.

Content varies through most of the spectrum, but recurring motifs
are emphasis on transition and contrast, near constant reminders of
the increasingly atrophied state of nature of in particular the human
mind and societal edifice, and a striving toward time constriction,
dilation, and dispersal.

April 20th:

In 1978, Tom Smith created dub versions of albums by Ramones, Television, PiL,
Giorgio Moroder, Richard Hell, and Japan. He's produced albums for Scissor Girls, Duotron, Electric Eels’ Brian McMahon, and Silver Apples, and he's written for a number of publications including Forced Exposure and Bananafish. He's published "Naturally Occurring Black Metal", many other recordings/sound collages, and he will also publish a collection of essays soon. Collaborative performances include To Live and Shave In L.A. (a project that he spearheaded for 20 years), Ohne (with Dave Phillips), Sightings, Pussy Galore, and many others. Although now residing in Germany, Tom's had more than a fair share of time on the radio, whether it was on WFMU or "taking over the production studio at WVVS-FM" in 1976. His tagline would easily be "Genre is Obsolete" if he needed one, and on April 20th, Tom Smith will share 2 hours of quality time with the listeners of WLUW.

April 27th:

The sound of "The Voodoo Organist", a one man band headed by Scott Voodoo, has been described as "songs of love, lust, murder, and rivers of whiskey set against a backdrop of the Mojave Desert". Scott started playing the organ when he was 10 years old, and got into synthesizers in his teens. He has a radio show dedicated to organ and synthesizer music, and he's made a unique set for this episode of Delirious Sunrise.

Delirious Sunrise v. 5: Some Assembly Required

Some Assembly Required features work by a variety of artists who work with bits and pieces of their media environments, giving something back to the cultural landscape from which they so enthusiastically appropriate.

The genre is young, despite examples dating as far back as 1961, when James Tenney constructed a tape collage borrowing heavily from cut-up fragments of a recording by Elvis Presley. Both provocative and surreal, this style continues to evolve and to challenge.

MISTER FUCKHEAD - "333" PRE ORDER

I thought I would inform anybody who might be interested about my solo project:

I wrote the first beginning from this album in 2003, while I was living in a 2nd floor closet, squatting in a rat-infested house that only had power in one outlet, all the way in the flooded basement. This was for my first performance at a public venue. I have reworked these tracks over and over again, spending 15-25 hours at a time drinking fake absinthe doused with wormwood oil and plugging away, to make individual pieces for each performance up until 2007. It took me some time to be completely happy with the whole album as a cohesive, organic entity that takes on a life of its own, and with the incredible patience and ceaseless resources of Clayton Counts, we mastered it in a stretch of about 5 8 hour long days, while we meticulously went over every detail. The 60 minutes of material culminates a series of compositions I made specifically for live performance, then spent a lot of time fine tuning or expanding afterwards. It is composed entirely with a Yamaha RM1x sequencer, incorporating various carefully crafted haywire anamolies that were featured in Dead Tech/Circuit Bending type of art gallery events, and much experience from performing with live bands or working with various drug addled beat industrial/hip hop artists, among other things.

The cassette is limited to an edition of 99, across 3 different color cassettes (solid orange, solid purple, black), with 3 different label designs, a 3 panel, two sided, full color insert, and a color transparency. The cost is $9 USA, $12 elsewhere, postage paid. The release date is 03/30/2010, and will ship within 3 days of that date. You can send paypal to misterfvckhead@yahoo.com . If you would like my mailing address just let me know. If anybody who does reviews for publications or blogs would like to give a thorough review based on the content, I will refund their money after purchase. Wholesale rates are available, distros are welcome and encouraged to get in touch. The cassettes are duplicated and the printing is almost ready to be done.
